The Tessen brandished in the clutches of Tasuki has a magical and historical background. The weapon of such immense fiery power has been passed down from generation to generation of Mt Leikaku leaders for the past 300 years.

However, before the Tessen became a keepsake of Mt. Leikaku, it belonged to a shape-changing youkai* that had once settled in the sacred Mt. Leikaku mountain. It was feared by all the villagers for its tenacity and ruthlessness and especially for its weapon that could spew fire.

No one dared to oppose the youkai except for a bold and formidable young man, his name unknown. He confronted it fearlessly asking the youkai to leave the sacred mountain. In anger, the youkai turned the Tessen on the warrior, enveloping him in fire. And although death would overcome any man who received such a fate, inside the blaze the man advanced towards the youkai and snatched the Tessen away.

The flames stopped and the mountain God sealed the youkai away, also bestowing the warrior with the duty of protecting the mountain. The man was told that as long as the Tessen carried his chi, the youkai would never be released. That man became the founder of the Mt. Leikaku bandits.
